The photography blog that Sri and I run seems to have 516 followers and a lot of visitors. It's surprising as we don't do any blog promotion activities or follow anyone else. I'm happy to be doing the blog because that way we are doing things together and I get to tell him "your photo sucks!"
He really gets like a kid at a candy store with the camera. :))
The other day he took some really good pictures of me just hanging out at the mall. Anyway, just thought of put this out there, that I love sharing this with Sri.

For those with Wordpress blogs, how do you automatically send your blog posts to LJ? Can you even do that? I have figured out how to send these posts to Twitter and FB, but not here.
Ah well.

Sri and I spent a lovely afternoon, just walking in the park near our house, taking photos. It's wonderful to share a common hobby and to have something to pull his leg about: "you have the better camera but my photos are better." :D
I'm just going through the photos now, to add my copyright information before uploading them to our blog. Yay!

Check it out: Link (Taken with my new-to-me Canon 40 HS camera. It's not a DSLR, but has awesome resolution and many of the same features as DSLR, albeit with a smaller sensor.)
What do you think?

Suzanne McLeod was kind enough to send me an ARC copy of her latest book--The Shifting Price of Prey. The book comes out on the 30th of August in the UK, following in US and Canada sometime later this year or early next year.
The Series
The Shifting Price of Prey is the 4th book in Suzanne's fun-filled series called Spellcrackers.com. The series follows the life and times of Genevieve (Genny) Taylor, a sidhe fae living and working in London with Spellcrackers.com. The Spellcrackers.com world is a world where magical beings coexist (somewhat) peacefully with plain-vanilla humans, Genny uses her gifts as a sidhe fae to clean, erase, or otherwise dismantle disruptive magic.
The Book
The last book (The Bitter Seed of Magic) saw Genny find the cause of the fae's infertility (a fertility curse) and capture the "cure" as a pendant. But this "cure" is still not enough. In this book, Genny investigates the reason why the fertility curse is not broken and her investigation leads her to a mysterious vampire heavyweight called The Emperor. Genny also needs to seek the help of Malik Al Khan, the one vampire who can drive her crazy with lust and anger at the same time, to find this Emperor.
Review
Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5 stars
The Shifting Price of Prey, the latest adventure of Genny and co., features Suzanne's characteristic world-building, wit, and open writing style. The murder, mayhem, and general chaos that seems to follow Genny as she tries to do her mundane (to her) job makes for a very exciting ride for us readers. Hearing Genny talk about her life sounds like a joke: "a vampire, a troll, and a sidhe fae walk into a zoo". This book retains some of the silliness from that joke, but with serious undertones as Genny goes through life.
This book is a great example of the things that we need to do in order to make ends, whether magical or otherwise, meet in our daily life. To find a permanent cure to the fertility curse plaguing the fae Genny has to rely on the one vamp that she cannot handle to find the one vamp that may as well kill her the first time they meet. Life is about having to find the best way to do something, never mind if that way does not seem like the easiest way to do it. This book handles this subject with great beauty.
I would recommend this book and the series to anyone who loves Urban Fantasy and all the things the genre has to offer.

...why Mocha seems more attuned to me, and especially why she always makes it a point to inspect the bathroom before I go in and why she sits outside it when I'm in there. Today someone gave me their take on it. I don't really get cat psychology that much, but even if 50% of what this guy says is true, I feel so honored and loved - I'm her food and hugs dispenser!
Here take a look:
Isn't it amazing?

Jim is my favorite author, his Dresden Files series has overtaken Asimov's work as my absolute go-to comfort reading. I never thought I'd like Jim's Codex Alera series, but just one book and I fell for it too. Pure fantasy stories with sword-fighting and intricate alternate worlds are sometimes too hard to like, if they aren't done just right, but Jim does it very well. The characters are so vivid that you can't help falling in love with them.
There's a character called Amara in the Codex series that I seem to identify with a lot. Won't go into details why, but just google Amara and you'll understand why. :)
I think what draws me to Jim's writing is the honesty and wise-assery of the characters. Even the bad guys are innately lovable. Take for example Gentleman Johnny Marcone in the Dresden Files series. Uber bad guy, but there's a side to him that just makes you want to justify whatever wrongs he has done or may do.
And it helps that those of us who love Jim's works are just lovely people. Just check out the Jim Butcher forums, for proof: www.JimButcheronline.com/bb
That's that for now. I need to take a nap so that this viral infection can stop kicking my butt.
